Poetry Group

Meetings are always on Fridays, usually towards the end of the month:

  • Face-to-face at Jolt Studios, First Floor - accessible by lift - 27 St Aldate Street, Kings Square, GL1 1RP 10.15 for 10.30 - noon (please note return to our old time). There is a small cost, payable by cash at each session, to cover the room hire (which includes free coffee).
    • To structure our meetings we are using The Oxford Book of Twentieth Century English Verse chosen by Philip Larkin (1973), as a complement to our erstwhile choice of anthology (The Nation’s Favourite Poems, BBC books, 1996). Both are easy to get secondhand.
  • Online meetings, 10.30 - c11.45 run during the winter period only. (The Zoom link is emailed a week beforehand to everyone who has indicated an interest, with an invitation to join and request for volunteers to read.)
  • Summer sessions: we run a short series of workshops with a particular focus in August.

May 22 face-to-face James Joyce (2)

June 19 face-to-face Robert Graves (1)

July 17 face-to-face Robert Graves (2)

Please check with Sarah for confirmation of the place and time if you don't attend regularly.

Although we inevitably refer to previous sessions, new members are always welcome to come along as a taster (having contacted the group leader at least a week beforehand) without committing to future meetings.

If you'd like to find out more, don't hesitate to contact Sarah (group leader) by using the link above.
